Don Fisher passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, at the age of 80, following a long illness.
He is survived by his children, Greg Fisher and Kimberly McKee (Tony), and his grandchildren, Kashton, Lochlan, Ryder, and Mattea. Don is also survived by his siblings, Pat Chychrun (John), Dave Fisher (Elaine), and Kathi Fisher, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Polly Fisher.
Don grew up on the family farm in Oak Bluff, where he developed a lifelong love of sports and community. A talented baseball player in his youth, he later found great joy in coaching his children in baseball, hockey, and ringette. Don spent nearly fifty years with Inland Cement, building strong friendships and taking pride in the work and routine he enjoyed every day.
Known for staying active and engaged, Don loved biking, running, card games, lively debates, and good conversation. He had a natural gift for connecting with people and valued the sense of community he found both in Oak Bluff and later in Winnipeg. Time with family was especially important to him, and he cherished gatherings that brought everyone together.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Deer Lodge Centre and all the family and friends that supported him in his final years.
An informal come‑and‑go celebration of Don’s life will take place at Thomson 'In The Park' Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 3:00p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please drop in, share a memory, and spend time with others who knew and loved him.
